HER Village

A safe place for women

veteran's to rebuild

Overview

Our founder, CTRC Nancy Bullock-Prevot ret. USN,  had a vision offering affordable housing to her veteran sisters that society had forgotten.

The first phase of her vision was the development of a non-profit focused on honoring, empowering and rebuilding homeless female veterans. Through this non-profit Honor HER was born and our Faith House was opened in November 2016.

Since our doors have opened we have housed over 80 women veterans, successfully transitioned 65 into their own place. But her vision did not stop there., Nancy wanted to offer stability to those women on the verge of homelessness who may have children. But before her vision could be manifested, Nancy passed away in April 2022.  Now four years later we have begun taking the steps to make phase II of Nancy's vision a reality.

In February 2026 we purchased a small parcel of land adjacent to our current property that we intend to turn into a small woman's veteran community - HER Village.

HER Village is a Tiny Home Community that will be located in the Myrtle Grove area and near the Veterans Affairs Clinic allowing our veterans nearby and accessible medical care and public transportation. The community will  consist of the following:

  • 2 -single story tiny homes

  • 2 -multilevel tiny homes

  • Paved and lighted parking and pathways

  • Public community garden

  • storage building.

Each home will come equipped with a kitchen (stove/range, sink, refrigerator), living area, full bathroom (Sink, shower, toilet), closet, dedicated bedroom and a washer/dryer combo unit.  We are currently in the process of selecting floor plans for our community.  Single home units will be up to 382 Sq.Ft. Multi-level units will have 400SqFt print with a dedicated bedroom and a loft unit.

In keeping these homes affordable the maximum amount of rent is estimated to be between $600 - $800 per month depending on the assigned unit and tenant income.

Because it takes a village, our plans also include a 14'x20' community garden that our surrounding neighbors can utilize to offset their grocery needs. With our residence and volunteers we will show our neighbors how to plant, water, compost and harvest the vegetables.
